Over 41,000 people have apparently been ‘caught’ by the radar trap in the Torrox tunnel since it began operating in January 2011, although not all have resulted in fines as the first three months of the year were designated a test period with drivers merely being warned.
New Torrox tunnel radar begins earning revenue
The new ‘average speed’ radar system installed in the tunnel on the AP-7 near Torrox, one of only two of this type in Spain, has caught 597 vehicles driving in excess of the 100 kph limit during the period March 1st to March 22nd and the DGT will be issuing fines of up to €600 to the drivers.
Torrox speed trap begins operating today
The new cash cow installed in the tunnel on the A-7 near Torrox becomes fully operational today, Tuesday, and fines of up to €600 euros will be result of exceeding the 100 kph speed limit.
