The new socialist Mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz, will receive the same basic salary as his predecessor, Toñi Claros, namely around €3,132 per month, with Councillors in the minority government receiving €2,427 per month. Basic salaries are normally augmented by various attendance allowances and expenses.

In the past year, local Torrox businessman Alfredo Navas has generously donated over one hundred palm trees to the municipality and these now adorn various gardens and roundabouts in the town.
10,000 kilos of agricultural produce given away in Torrox

The Provincial Department of Coasts in Málaga has informed Torrox Council that it is initiating proceedings relating to a number of chiringuitos installed on the public shoreline which exceed the maximum dimensions of twenty square metres permitted by law. Potential fines could be as high as €60,000.
Josefa Castro named as Hija Predilecta in Torrox
Torrox Council has voted unanimously to approve a motion naming Josefa Castro, better known as ‘Pepita’, as Hija Predilecta (Favourite Daughter). In the 1960’s, Pepita married a German national and moved to Germany where she promoted tourism to the town.
