Roman ruins in Torrox

Local residents in Torrox have denounced the lamentable state of the Roman ruins near El Faro with much of the site, including the old furnaces, covered in all types of rubbish.

Bar Viva Nerja is starting up again with ‘live’ music, starting tonight, Wednesday, with Silver Fox. The music will be from 8pm to 11pm and hopefully no denuncias this time. Thursday night at Venta Madrid in Torrox is ‘live’ music with Leo, which will be Spanish, Flamenco and classical guitar. Starts at 8pm.

Projects shelved in Torrox

The current economic crisis, particularly affecting coastal towns which became dependent upon the construction industry after the building boom of the past decade, appears to have resulted in the shelving, at least temporarily, of two major projects in Torrox.

Torrox VPO housing project suffers another setback

The four-party ((IU, PSA, PIU, PP) government of Torrox has voted to stop the proposed transfer of land near the Barranco del Puerto to the Junta de Andalucia for the the construction of 152 VPO (subsidised) houses.

Mayor of Torrox not seeking re-election

The Mayor of Torrox, Toñi Claros (IU), has stated that she will not be seeking re-election in May 2011 and will be replaced by Antonio Toro, the current coordinator of the IU.
