It may be a time of financial crisis and municipal coffers may be low, but the ruling minority PSOE government is proposing to increase political spending by 37.5% in the hope of persuading the opposition parties to support the 2012 Budget.
Autopsies inconclusive
Autopsies carried out on an elderly Danish couple whose bodies were found at their home in Torrox on Tuesday have failed to establish a cause of death and furthjer tests are being carried out.
Budget 2012
The PSOE in Torrox has given the green light to a proposed budget for 2012 which predicts income of €20,094,534.37 and expenses of €19,448,293.65, giving a surplus of €646,240.72. There is a provision for investments of €2.1 million. The IU, PIU and PSA have reserved judgement on the budget until the next plenary session of the Council on August 20th.

Torrox Council signs agreement with the DGT
The Mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz (PSOE), has signed an agreement with the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions and, it is said, to improve road safety. The agreement will, amongst other things, allow the Local Police to access driver information, vehicle registration details and permit the deduction of licence points of offenders.
Further delays to Torrox Theatre
The IU in Torrox has denounced the latest delay in completing and opening the €7.5 million 400 seat theatre after the Mayor, Francisco Muñoz (PSOE), announced the rescinding of the contract with the current construction company and was unable to specify a projected opening date for the facility.
