Vélez-Málaga Council fed up with dirty streets

Awareness campaigns by Vélez-Málaga Council regarding the depositing of rubbish on the streets at correct times and the necessity for pet owners to clear up after their animals have apparently fallen upon deaf ears during recent years, so the Council has decided it is about time to take action.

Swimming pool project in Torre del Mar being reconsidered

The new PP government in Vélez-Málaga is considering whether or not to proceed with the planned construction of an indoor swimming pool in Torre del Mar, a €3.2 million project, in view of the precarious financial situation within the municipality.

Beach monitoring services now in place in Vélez-Málaga

The beach monitoring services, some twenty-five lifeguards, nurses and other staff, are now operational on the beaches of Vélez-Málaga, one month later than normal. The PP government has, quite naturally, blamed the previous administration for the delay.

Summer camps in Vélez-Málaga

Vélez-Málaga Council has organised two summer camps in schools in Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar with 300 places available. These will be in the colegio Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios in Vélez and the colegio Antonio Checa de Torre del Mar. Heavily indebted Vélez-Málaga Council has lost yet another government grant for failing to implement a project within the allotted time period.
