Artificial reef for Algorrobo and Vélez-Málaga

Work is underway off the coasts of Algorrobo and Vélez-Málaga to install an artificial reef. The project, funded by the European Fisheries Fund (75%) and the Junta de Andalucía (25%), is designed to both put an end to illegal trawling in the area and to preserve valuable fisheries.

The Department of Environment has been conducting an ‘awareness’ campaign in Vélez-Málaga to promote the use of cloth rather than plastic bags. They have been round the three markets handing out leaflets, explaining the benefits of recycling and and handing out free cloth bags to shoppers.

A 40 year old man was found dead on the third floor of a building in calle Montera de Vélez, Vélez-Málaga, on Sunday. He had apparently entered the building with another person for the purpose of consuming drugs.

Vélez-Màlaga Council studying possibility of an equestrian centre
