The continuing problems with volcanic ash from Iceland resulted in 189 flights being cancelled throughout Spain on Monday.
Airports open again
All Spanish airports are once again open and operating normally after closures during the weekend due to further activity from the Icelandic volcano. On Sunday, 632 of the 5,222 scheduled flights had to be cancelled as volcanic dust invaded Spanish airspace.
More volcanic ash causes airport closures
Fresh activity from the volcano in Iceland has caused the closure this morning of 15 airports in Spain: Bilbao, San Sebastian, Vitoria, Zaragoza, Pamplona, La Rioja, Santiago, La Coruna, Vigo, Asturias, Santander, Leon, Valladolid, Burgos and Salamanca.
More flights cancelled
A total of 1,330 flights have now been cancelled for today between Spain and Northern Europe due to the continuing problems with volcanic ash hovering over much of Europe.
